813,799. Coffee-making devices. PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN N.V. Feb. 22, 1957 [Feb. 25, 1956], No. 6032/57. Class 129. A coffee filtrate preparing device comprises a centrifuge with a rotatably supported vessel whose bottom and lateral walls are closed apart from the upper portion of the lateral wall wherein perforations are provided with a dimension in one direction of at most 1 mm. As shown, a cylindrical housing 1 is divided into upper and lower portions by an inverted conical partition 2 with an aperture 3 at its apex. A discharge tube 4 is connected to the housing, as shown, so as to collect coffee filtrate draining off the partition. An electric motor 6 in lower portion 5 has a shaft 7 which extends through aperture 3 and supports a centrifuge vessel 8. The upper portion 11 of the lateral wall of vessel 8 has perforations 12. In operation, water and coffee are placed in vessel 8 which is then rotated and the infusion passes out through perforations 12 and runs out through tube 4.
