Abstract
662,621. Brushes. WINGFOOT CORPORATION. Oct. 31, 1949 [June 29, 1949], No. 2787/49. Class 19 [Also in Groups V, XVII, XXVIII and XXX] An apparatus for dusting powdered soapstone onto strip rubber comprises a chamber fitted with rollers for grinding the rubber therethrough and a dust dispersing bin above the chamber, a rotary tubular shaft directing the dust down onto a brush which forces the dust onto the rubber, and a second brush which removes excess dust. In a preferred embodiment the dust passes down a hollow shaft 41 to brushes 30 and onto triangular distributor plates 65. As the brush revolves the dust is thrown by centrifugal force onto a tube stock 3. Excess material not absorbed by the bristles falls onto plate 67 attached to the inner side of lower brushes 31 which dusts the lower side of the tube stock. A second group of brushes 76 and 77 (not shown) remove surplus dust. The brushes are all rotated by a series of belts.
