Abstract
692,174. Rotary brushes. MATERIEL DE VOIRIE. June 20, 1951 [June 28, 1950], No. 14640/51. Class 19. A rotary brush, more particularly for use on road sweeping machines to sweep gutters has the bristles or other sweeping members attached to a flexible and deformable disc secured to the end of a driving shaft. In Fig. 3 the wire or rubber bristle tufts are looped through a rubber disc 1 and may be held in position as shown or by a further rubber disc overlying the top of the bristles (Fig. 1, not shown). The bristle disc is secured to the rotary shaft 5 and may be stiffened by providing a stiff backing disc 9 also secured to the shaft and a rubber cushioning ring 10 between the discs. Alternatively the stiffening may be effected as shown in Fig. 4 by a conical rubber cushion 11 above the disc the pressure of air in the cushion determining the stiffness. In a further embodiment (Fig. 2), the bristles are secured to radial flexible metal strips.
