783,355. Brushes. GIBSON, R. March 23, 1956 [March 24, 1955], No. 8543/55. Class 19. A brush comprises a backing having an undulating contour in one direction on one face and a plurality of bristles, e.g. wires, hairs, or other brushing medium, that project from said face in such a manner that the free ends thereof follow at least one and a half cycles of a cyclically, preferably sinusoidal, contour in said one direction. The bristles are arranged in tufts anchored in holes formed in the backing and may project substantially the same distance from the base in substantially the same direction or in a direction normal to said face. The backing can be in the form of a block or can be attached to a suitably shaped block.
