Abstract

Vitamin B1 is stabilized in aqueous solution by the addition of thioglycerol thiosorbitol or thioglucose in a concentration of from 0.05 to 5.0 per cent on a weight-volume basis. The preferred procedure is to add the vitamin to a previously prepared solution of the stabilizing agent. The pH is preferably in the range 2.5-5. In examples: (1) Thiamin hydrochloride and thioglycerol are combined in aqueous solution; (2) an aqueous solution is prepared of Thiamin hydrochloride, thiosorbitol, nicotinamide, riboflavin, calcium pantothenate, and pyridoxin hydrochloride; (3) an aqueous solution is prepared of Thiamin hydrochloride, riboflavin, nicotinamide, pantothenic acid, pyridoxin hydrochloride, thioglucose, coumarin, vanillin, glucose, sucrose and alcohol.
