<PICT:0661894/III/1> <PICT:0661894/III/2> <PICT:0661894/III/3> In a dry-cleaning or other machine according to Specification 655,818 the clamping bands 27 of the side edges of the door 15 are each provided with an abutment so arranged that during the final stage of door closing movement the door engages the band abutments and thereby tightens the bands upon the door. The band abutments are constituted by a thickened portion 32 of each band 27 (Fig. 8) providing a shoulder 35 adapted to be engaged by the lower edge of the sliding door 15. Near its lower edge the door is provided with a pair of locking bolts 18 the outer ends of which are bevelled, as at 23, and biassed by springs 19 into engagement with the rear bevelled face 25 of a pair of keepers 24, mounted on the drum. Thus the bolts 18 tend to move the door further in the closing direction, and to increase the clamping effect. Each clamping band 27 is provided at its rear end with an elongated opening 28 (Fig. 6) through which a bolt 29 may be screwed into a track member 17 on which the door edges slide. The position of the clamping bands may be varied by means of adjusting screws 30 to ensure that full clamping effect is secured when the door reaches closed position. The bolts are connected by links to an operating member actuated by a handle, Fig. 1 (not shown). Two faces of the bolts are bevelled to enable the bolt to be turned over when one working face becomes worn. A second pair of keepers (not shown) is provided for locking the door in open position.
