Abstract

The link (1) has a function similar to a safety chain, and ties between the door frame mounted striker (3) and the bolt (2a), the link (1) engaging a groove in the bolt and being permanently pinned to the box. The bolt engaging end is cranked and the bolt grooves have symmetrical inverted trapezoidal forms with oblique upper and lower faces within the flat bolt profile, and the cranked end also bears a stop to prevent abrupt and involuntary door closure. When the door is closed the link hangs vertically from the striker and over the bolt.
