661,572. Fluid pressure brakes. VERWALTUNGSGES DER WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. Feb. 15, 1949 [Feb. 16, 1948], No. 4158/49. Class 103 (i). The triple valve of an automatic compressed air brake system has provided on the brake pipe 1 side of the slide valve piston 3, a guide bush 4, on which is pivoted at 6 a rocker 5, one end of which is opposite the spindle 8 of a local release valve to atmosphere. When during a brake application the pressure in the train pipe is initially reduced, the leftward movement of the piston 3 and guide bush 4 causes the rocker 5 to open the release valve 8, 9, thus providing an accelerated reduction of the pressure in the train pipe. Just after opening the valve 8, 9, the lateral extremity of the rocker 5 abuts against a shoulder 10 on the valve casing causing the rocker to pivot about pin 6 and become disengaged from the valve 8, 9 which may then close. The rise in pressure in the brake cylinder III causes a plunger 11, 14 to engage in a groove 12 in the guide bush 4, thus rendering it inoperative for any immediately subsequent reductions in train pipe pressure. The guide bush 4 will only be released when the brake cylinder pressure has been reduced to such a value that the train pipe pressure can push back the piston 14.
