Abstract

660,849. Brake beams. BUFFALO BRAKE BEAM CO. March 18, 1949, No. 7455/49. Class 103 (i). In order to protect the ends of an I-section beam, the beam, Fig. 3, is provided with terminal parts 14, having flanges 15 of less height than the flanges 12, and over which are fitted wear members 17, Fig. 7, of hardened metal having tongue parts 21, 22 which extend between the flanges 12. One flange of the I-beam and the parts 21, 22 of the wear member fit into a recess in the back part of the brake head 26 as shown in Fig. 6.
