Abstract
660,436. Force-feed lubricating. SOC. D'ETUDES INDUSTRIELLES SEI SOC. ANON. July 4, 1949 [July 5, 1948], No. 17653/49. Class 12 (iii). In a lubricating system for internal-combustion engines, a lubricating pump supplies lubricant to two circuits, one feeding lubricant at a relatively high pressure to the crank-shaft and connecting rod bearings, and the other feeding lubricant at a lower pressure to other parts of the engine, and means are provided for controlling the pressure of lubricant in each circuit. Lubricant is supplied through a pipe 5' to an oil filter 4 and returns through pipe 6<SP>1</SP> and passages 6, 7 in a distributer casing 3 to a passage 8, Fig. 6, in the crank-case 2 from which it is fed to the crank-shaft and connecting rod bearings. A spring-pressed valve 9, Fig. 4, is disposed in the wall of the passage 7 and lubricant flows past this into the chamber 11 and passes through a bore 12 and port 13 to lubricating tubes feeding oil to other parts of the engine. The oil in the bore 12 and port 13 is maintained at a predetermined pressure by a spring-pressed valve 14 which opens when this pressure is exceeded and allows oil to pass through a port 16 and return to the crank-case.
