[Also in Group XVIII] In an apparatus for preparing tea or other hot beverage, steam pressure formed by heating water in a vessel 7 forces the water into contact with the dry tea and also forces milk from a vessel in which it is contained, the final beverage being expelled through an outer annular passage. The water is heated in the vessel 7 by an electric heater 9a contained in the double-walled cylinder 9 and the steam pressure forces the water through the apertures 9b in the cylinder 9 upwards through the annular space between the vessel 7 and the cylinder 9, downwards through the annular space between the vessel 7 and the cylinder 6 where it passes through the dry tea placed on the circumferential flange 8, and then forces the milk contained in the outer vessel 3 upwards through the annular space between the cylinder 6 and the outer vessel 3 from which the beverage is discharged into the channel 4 from which it drains through the outlet 5 into a channel 14a balanced on a pivot 16 and from which it discharges into cups beneath the open ends of the channel.
