Abstract

221,264. Pouget, L. M. June 4, 1923. Infusing-machines.-In apparatus for making tea or coffee in which the water is forced on to the tea &c. by the pressure of the steam generated on boiling the water, the tea &c. is placed in a receptacle carried by the lid of the apparatus, and a whistle is provided to be sounded by the steam which escapes when the infusion is complete. The water is placed in a receptacle 1 from which it rises through a pipe 12 passing through the handle 13 of the apparatus to a nozzle B' in the cover 3. The cover 3 is continued downwards in a cylindrical portion 4 in which the coffee is placed between two perforated discs 5, 6, another perforated disc 7 holding the disc 6 in place, the cover being inverted to receive the discs and the coffee. A whistle 8 is mounted on the cover 3. The pipe 12 is made in two parts connected by a joint 11 and is furnished at the bottom with a dished plate P. In a modification adapted for making tea, the tea, instead of being enclosed between the plates 5, 6, is placed in a solid-bottomed cylindrical receptacle enclosing the extension 4 of the lid, the infusion being drawn off by a siphon.
