[Class 110(iii)] [Also in Group XXI] A rocket projectile in which the fuel burns initially at a high, rate and subsequently at a lower rate is provided with means for automatically reducing the total cross-sectional area of the nozzles at the same time as the burning rate is reduced. Liquid fuel may be fed by a pump to the combustion chamber from which the nozzles lead, a time fuse or clock mechanism being used to control the pump so that after a given time the rate of feed is reduced. The timing device also controls mechanism for closing half the nozzles simultaneously with the reduction in the rate of fuel supply so that the pressure in the combustion chamber remains constant.
