[Class 81(ii)] In a dental drill comprising head, shank and shaft portions 4, 5, 6, the head and shank are formed of a single piece of sintered hard metal, e.g. metal of the hard carbide groups, which is fastened to the shaft, consisting of a more easily workable material, by brazing, welding or the like. The shank piece may be fastened to the shaft by a plane brazed seam or the shank may be countersunk into the shaft and brazed or the method shown in Fig. 3 may be adopted.
