[Class 124] [Also in Group XXII] A rock drill comprises a drill rod, a bit 10, a screw - threaded renewable stud 15 engaging the rod and the bit and having freedom for movement relatively to the rod and the bit when the end faces of the latter members are in contact, and one or more inserts 11 of hard metal having an exposed edge or edges. Pads 18 of mild steel or other suitable metal are interposed between the inserts to facilitate brazing of the latter. Water is fed to the drill through passages 19. 20.
