Abstract

658,728. Drying fabrics in long lengths. REDMAN, F. R. July 8, 1949, No. 18141. Convention date, Aug. 19; 1948. [Class 34(i)] Fabric is dried in an apparatus having a conveyer 11 comprising successive basket loops 35 of foraminous material movable through a horizontal run, the fabric F being deposited loosely in the basket loops and devoid of tension. The fabric is fed to the conveyer at a rate greater than the speed of the latter and is blown into the successive loops by means of a transverse air nozzle. The conveyer passes through a housing having a number of sections each of which has a fan to supply hot air to air heads 41 above the conveyer and air heads 42 below the conveyer, the air heads having nozzles 43 and 44 respectively directed towards the conveyer in staggered relation and through which the hot air is blown to dry the fabric. The ejected air is drawn through a filter around heating pipes and returned to the nozzles by the fans.
