Abstract

658,703. Electromagnetic relays. AUTOMATIC ELECTRIC LABORATORIES, Inc. May 2, 1949, No. 11669. Convention date, June 2, 1948. [Class 38(v)] Contacts 25 of a relay are operated into their other position at each de-energization of the relay winding. No movement of contacts occurs at energization of the winding. Another set of contacts, Fig. 3, (not shown), may be operated in the normal way by the same armature 23. When the relay is energized the armature 23, pivoted at 14 is attracted to the core 10 and a screw 45 moves a sliding member 41 to the right against a return spring 46, a tooth 65 on the member 41 moving above an upturned edge 52 of a vertically-moving contact-operating slider 44 and locking this against upward movement. Simultaneously an inclined surface 55 causes a bell-crank lever 42 to move about its pivot 50 until a lever 43 pivoted to the slider 44 at 57 moves down to latch it at 56. During the above movement of 42, a leaf spring 51 pressing up on the slider 44 is strained. On de-energization, the armature and slider 41 move back, unlocking the slider 44 which moves up to actuate the contact springs 25. Upon the next energization the tooth 65 on the member 41 moves below the edge 52 locking the slider 44 in its upper position while the left hand end of lever 43 is engaged by projection 67 to unlatch lever 42, and on the next de-energization the parts return to their original position.
