Abstract

201,521. Bruynis, C. July 29. 1922, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Electromagnetic switches; switches, actuating; switches, locking.-A heavy current switch, operated by weak currents, comprises a core operating to displace a pivotal guided contact lever movable from one side to the other through the intermediary of a connecting rod. Figs. 1, 4 show such a switch wherein a solenoid a has a guided core d to which is pivoted at f a connecting rod e actuating the contact lever pivoted at k. A centralizing spring g is connected between the pivot f and a pin h on the connecting rod e, which carries a second pin i co-operating with grooves in the contact j to move it from one fixed contact q to the other. A spring o retains the contact j in either extreme position and a spring s forces the core d out of the magnet when no current is flowing therethrough. In operation, when the magnet is de-energized, the core d and rod e are in the position shown in Fig. 2 and the contact j inclined to the horizontal. On energization of the magnet, the pin i will engage one slot of the contact to move it into engagement with a fixed contact. Locking means, as shown in Figs. 9 and 10, comprise a magnet y and a core n, a pin u on which engages openings x in side arms w of the contact j. Such a switch is useful for remote control purposes.
