[Class 79 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXII ] A motorised wheel 16 comprises a power unit such as an internal combustion engine mounted on a frame 18 within the rim 17 which is driven by a spur wheel engaging teeth 19 on the rim 17. A thrust bar 15a is mounted on the frame 18 and detachably connected at its end to the axle 2 of hand truck wheels 3. The thrust bar pivots about a vertical pin 8 to allow the hand truck to be steered by means of handles 4 on the truck. Fig. 5 shows an embodiment for use with vehicles without handles. A handle H is provided on the motorized wheel for steering purposes and to counterbalance the draw- (or thrust-) bar 50. A modification is described wherein the motorised wheel is disposed within a turntable connected to the thrust bar and a tiller allows orientation of the wheel for steering or for propelling the vehicle in the reverse direction.
