[Class 83 (iv)] In a hydraulic press for bending tubes and the like between stops 10 on a table, an operating cylinder 12 which is movable over a fixed piston-rod 21, a pump 29 and motor 30 are mounted within the confines of the table. The table comprises two plates 1 supported by channels 11, 23 upon a plate 4 attached to legs 3 and has a series of aligned holes 7, 8 in the plates for removable studs 9 which carry rotatable stops 10. The stops are square and have different sized grooves in their sides to suit pipes &c. of different diameters. A casing 13 secured between a screwed ring 15 and a nut 14 to the cylinder 12 runs on rollers 17 in a guideway formed between the edges of the plates 1, the plate 4 and the channel members 11 and carries a buttress 18 which projects upwardly between the plates 1 and constitutes a bending former or is provided with an integral key 19 adapted to carry a detachable former. The piston-rod 21 passes through packing rings in the cylinder 12 and is attached to the channel 23 by spherical-seated nuts and washers 26, 27 which permit flexing of the piston and cylinder. Pressure-fluid reaches the cylinder which is double-acting by flexible pipes 28 coupled to a two-way control valve 35 the lower plate 4 having slots 31 to permit movement of the pipes. An automatic trip device may be incorporated to limit the travel of the cylinder 12 by control of the valve 35 through a cable attached to the cylinder. The machine is totally enclosed by a skirt 5 attached to the top plates 1 and by fixed or detachable plates 6 on the legs 3.
