Abstract

1,219,682. Hydraulic presses; cutting presses. MASCHINENFABRIK MOENUS A.G. 29 March, 1968 [21 June, 1967], No. 15240/68. Headings B4B and B5F. An hydraulic press, for particular use in cutting and stamping operations, comprises a fixed table 36 mounted upon a standard 2, and a movable arm 34 swingably mounted on a column 28 itself vertically reciprocable in the standard 2. The column internally carries at its upper end a cylinder 18 closed by a cover 60 and a lower wall 22 which cylinder is slidable over a pair of spaced apart pistons 14 and 16 fixed to the upper end of a hollow spindle 12 vertically mounted in the standard. The cylinder is subdivided by an intermediate wall 20, and to perform the operating stroke fluid from pump 6 is directed up the spindle and through passages 50 and 52 into the spaces between the upper piston and the intermediate wall and the lower piston and the lower wall respectively. The stroke is terminated at any desired point by a pump de-actuating switch 38 adjustably mounted upon the arm 34 and operated by one arm of a bell crank lever 40, the other end of which engages a ring 42 fixed to the spindle. The arm is retracted by the action of compression spring 48. The intermediate wall of the cylinder includes a bushing 44 which projects over the passages 50 by an amount which may be varied so that variable damping of the working stroke is facilitated.
