Abstract

660,990. Tables; stands. THORNTON, Ltd., A. G., GILES, W. H., and BOXALL. F. C. April 23, 1949. [March 25, 1948] No. 8717/48. Class 52 (iii). [Also in Group XXX] A drawing board, desk, or table top is mounted for vertical adjustment and rotation on a pedestal containing an hydraulic lifting device which has the lifting cylinder 18, pump cylinder 14 and open-topped oil reservoir 6 coaxially arranged, the oil reservoir moving with the pump piston 7 which is hollow to admit working fluid to the cylinder through an inlet valve 13. The pump may be operated manually or by a pedal 10. A relief-valve 20 in the lifting cylinder piston 21 is actuated by a co-axial push rod 27 depressed by a transversely mounted cam moved by a push-button 29a on the table top. Released fluid enters the lifting cylinder above the piston and is returned by a relief-pipe 24 to the reservoir.
