Abstract

L Sept. 3, 1956 [Sept. 1, 1955; May 4, 1956], Nos. 25093/55 and 13822/56 Class 52(3) A drawing board 44 is angularly adjustable on a member 26 rotatably supported on the ram of a hydraulic lift pump and is clamped about a vertical axis by member 38 and about a horizontal axis by member 50 The ram is enclosed in a cylinder which is surrounded by a hydraulic fluid reservoir. A piston 54 reciprocated by a bell-crank foot pedal 68 is located in a chamber 56, in the pump housing 52, communicating by passages 96, 98 with the fluid reservoir by passage 100 containing a non- return valve 104 allowing fluid to flow only from the container to chamber 56, and the ram cylinder by passage 102. The pressure release mechanism, lowering the table, consists in two chambers 82, 84 communicating with the ram cylinder and the fluid reservoir respectively, and connected by a chamber containing a ball valve opened by a pedal operated piston 80. The chamber 82 is also in communication with passage '98 through passage 108 containing a non- return valve opened when a predetermined pressure is set up in the ram cylinder. The board may be located in any rotated position by a spring and ball device engaging channels in the rotatable member carried by the ram, and may also be adapted to be carried, together with the hydraulic pump, from a bracket extending from a cabinet.
