Abstract
657,633. Cathode-ray tubes. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. July 17, 1948, No. 19219. [Class 39 (i)] A cathode-potential-stabilized television transmitting tube with an electrode 15 close to the scanned side of the target 6 maintained at a positive potential with reference to the equilibrium potential of the target has means for removing from the signal stream returning to the output multiplier 11, those secondary electrons liberated from said electrode 15, comprising a fine mesh electrode 17 preferably in front of the multiplier with a potential intermediate that of the electrode 15 and the target. The low velocity electron stream from gun 2 passes through lift plates 14 and through a stabilizing electrode 15 of fine mesh to target 6, those electrons not contacting the target returning via lift plates 14 to the multiplier. The secondary electrons from electrode 15 are turned back from the multiplier because the potential of electrode 11 is less positive than that of electrode 15. Potentiometers 21, 23, 25 apply the appropriate potentials to the electrodes. The stabilizing electrode 15 is connected to the signal plate 7, but it may be separately energized, or the signal plate may be dispensed with. The target may be a photo-sensitive mosaic screen or one receiving an electron image from a photo cathode. Specifications 657,666 is referred to.
