657,475. Air vessels for reciprocating pumps. FLUOR CORPORATION, Ltd. Feb. 18, 1947, No. 4682. Convention date, Aug. 5,1946. [Class 102(i)] [Also in Group XXIX] An apparatus for eliminating pulsations in a liquid stream flowing through a pipe 24, e.g. the output of a piston pump, comprises a housing 10 containing a pair of gasfilled vessels 16 connected to the pipe 24 at points 30 between which the pipe contains means 33 providing a restriction. The vessels 16 contain bladders 19 secured thereto by clamping heads 20 with valves 21 through which the bladders are filled with gas to a predetermined pressure, the pressure of the liquid in the pipe 24 deflecting the bladders as shown. The pipe 24 is connected to closedend pipes 26 in communication with one another through the restricting means 33 which comprises a narrow, coiled, elongated pipe 34. The vessels 16 tend to damp out the pressure pulsations. Valves 28 accessible through slots 29 in the casing 12 may be closed to disconnect the vessels 16 from the pipe 24, and valves 32 may then be opened to drain the liquid from the vessels.
