Abstract

657,375. Gas filters. TRIGGS, W. W. (Air- Maze Corporation). Feb. 16, 1949, No. 4282. [Class 8(ii)] [Also in Group XIII] A gas filter comprises a closed vertical cylindrical hollow body 13<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 1, having an outlet 11 in the top and an inlet 10 projecting angularly, e.g. at an elbow 28 imparting vortical movement to entering gas, an eccentrically disposed annular filter 17 closed at the bottom and open at the top to the outlet 11, and a liquid seal having a leg 27 open to the interior, of the filter 17 and a leg 26 open to the body 13<SP>1</SP>, e.g. through an overflow 26a. The filter 17 comprises layers 22, 24, Fig. 4, of woven wire screen of thirty and eighteen meshes per inch respectively corrugated vertically and layers 23, 25 of similar uncorrugated screen.
