Abstract
657,268. Pipe couplings. DEHN, S. G. (Safway Steel Products, Inc.). Feb. 1, 1949, No. 2770. [Class 99(i)] A tube 9 telescoping within a tube 25 is coupled thereto by a latch 16 pivoted to the tube 9 and pressed by a spring 18 into a slot 26 in the tube 25 and withdrawn, to uncouple the tubes, by relative rotation whereby an inclined face on the slot or latch causes inward movement of the latch. As shown, the latch has a nose 17, one end and side of which are bevelled; also, the end 27 of the tube 25 is bevelled so as to ride over the latch. In a modification, Fig. 5, (not shown), a coupling tube fits freely in both tubes 6, 25, has a collar forming a stop for the ends of the tubes and carries two latches similar to the latch 16, a latch engaging a slot in each tube.
