[Class 17(ii)] A welted shoe has its upper 1. welt 2 and a cover strip 8 attached by a chainstitch seam 4 to an insole 3 in such a way that the welt is vertical and simulates a platform. The welt may be grooved at 7 about its mid line to receive the stitches. The cover strip is in intimate contact with the welt and is turned inwards and secured to the shoe bottom.
