[Classes 60 and 124] A device for dressing and polishing stone comprises a rotary dressing tool and a rotary polishing tool mounted on a support, the tools being spaced apart so that, during relative movement between the stone and the device, dressing and polishing are carried out successively. As shown, the device comprises a support 1 having an arm 8 carrying a dressing roller 9 with abrasive parts 10 ... 12 arranged in a helix along the surface. The roller is driven by a chain or belt drive 5 from a driven shaft 4. Pivotally mounted on the shaft 4 are two arms 17 carrying a polishing roller 20 urged into contact with the stone by a spring 18 and driven from the roll 9 by a chain or belt drive 14. The device is mounted for to and fro motion over the surface of the stone.
