[Also in Group XXIII] The knife of the apparatus for cutting filaments described in the parent Specification is sharpened by contact with a spring-loaded abrasive stone attached to the moving support for the filaments. A pivoted arm 5 carried by the wheel 1 is urged by a spring 8 to hold a sharpening stone 7 against the rotary knife 3. To maintain the angle of contact substantially the same as the knife rotates, a convex or concave faced stone is used according to whether the stone is held against the inner or outer sides of the knife.
