655,565. Hot-gas engines. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Nov. 18, 1947, No. 30557/47. Convention date, Nov. 21, 1946. [Class 7(i)] [Also in Groups XXVI and XXVIII] In a hot-gas reciprocating engine a piston 2 is provided .with a stepped, straightguided piston rod 9, the stepped portion being surrounded by a chamber 6 provided with inlet and outlet connections 11, 12 fitted with non-return 'valves, the stepped portion, by varying the volume of chamber 6, pumps gas used in the thermodynamic cycle. The piston rod may have two steps, each step being surrounded by a chamber to form a two-stage pump or two separate pumps. A similar piston for connecting to a swash-plate is also described.
