Abstract
655,221. Endless belt conveyers. EGGLETON, O. J. Sept. 23, 1949, No. 24882/48. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group VIII] Clothes are passed through a laundry washing machine (see Group VIII) by means of an intermittently travelling conveyer 11 to which a reciprocating up and down movement may also be applied by means of eccentrics 34 on spindles 35, and a plate 32 mounted underneath the conveyer. The cloths are fed at the point F on to the conveyer 11 which may be of perforated rubber and is mounted on rollers 12, 13, 14 and 15. Rollers 40 are pressed down on to the conveyer 11 by springs 41. The intermittent motion is imparted to the conveyer by mechanism (Fig. 2) comprising an arm 42 pivoted at one end and pressed by a spring 43 against an eccentric 35a mounted on one spindle 35. A chain 44 attached to the arm 42 passes around sprockets 45, 46 and is tensioned by a spring 47. The sprocket 46 is fitted with freewheel mechanism so that the drive is effective in one direction only, the drive being through a sprocket 54, chain 56 and sprocket 55. Sprocket 55 is mounted on the spindle of roller 13 which is geared to rotate with another roller 16, the conveyer passing between and being driven by the rollers 13, 16.
