Abstract

654,885. Disc brakes. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and BUTLER, H. J. May 14, 1948, No. 13217. [Class 103 (i)] A wheel brake assembly comprises concentric inner and outer brake discs, 17 and 6, respectively, rotatable with the wheel and spaced radially apart, the disc 6 being fixed axially relative to the wheel, and a pair of spot-type friction pads disposed in axial alignment on opposite sides of said discs, are arranged to be movable by fluid-pressure operated means into frictional engagement with the discs. The disc 17 may move axially relative to the wheel through a small distance limited by the clearance of its projections 18 in the slots 16 of its carrier member 12. The fluid-pressure actuator is mounted so as to be axially slidable on the arms 21, 22 of a bracket 20 rigidly secured to the axle.
