Abstract

654,039. Piles. LIDDELL, G. March 18, 1949, No. 7501. [Classes 68(i) and 68 (ii)] A pile is formed by sinking a tube 2 having an auger 3a on its base 3, the tube being rotated as by a capstan. The sinking is facilitated by jetting water supplied through a head 6 extending axially through the auger and by other heads 8a. The wetted soil is dewatered and consolidated by a suction pump. The heads 6 and 8a are now removed and grout is forced into the soil through tubes 8. Specification 11536/08, [Class 85] is referred to.
