[Class 109] [Also in Groups XXII and XXXVI] Covered wire for use as electric cable or in making hooks and eyes &c. is made by placing around the wire a strip of textile or synthetic resinous material precoated on at least one side with an adhesive so that said coating is external and then applying a covering of silk or the like to adhere thereto. The adhesive is preferably non-drying and may be applied to both,. sides by feeding the strip through a bath. The wire may be of iron, copper or soft brass and be covered first with a winding of cotton. The final covering may be braided.
