609,468. Electric cables. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. March 15, 1946, No. 8093. Convention date, June 8, 1945. [Class 36] An insulated electric cable comprises a conductor 10, a layer 11 of non-combustible material such as fibre glass wrapped about the conductor, a layer 12 of fibrous material such as cotton or nylon wrapped over the layer 11, and a layer 13 of rubber or synthetic elastic insulant, preferably neoprene, a smooth, hard outer surface being provided by a thin layer 14 of nylon or other synthetic linear polyamide, which may be coloured or marked for identification purposes. Specification 557,268, [Group VIII], and U.S.A. Specification 2,285,009 are referred to with regard to the method of applying the rubber layer 13 and the method of making a suitable nylon for the covering 14 respectively.
