Abstract
Hydrogenated cardanol having a meltingpoint of approximately 126 DEG F. is reacted with 1 : 4-dichlorobutane to give a wax having a melting-point of approximately 190 DEG F. and having the formula <FORM:0653302/IV (b)/1> Aqueous alkali, e.g. sodium hydroxide, may be employed as a condensing agent, and the reaction may be carried out at elevated pressures.
