531,030. Carbamic acid esters of aliphatic glycol ethers. WACKER GES. FUR ELEKTROCHEMISCHE INDUSTRIE GES. DR. A. July 10, 1939, No. 20039. Convention date. July 12, 1938. [Class 2 (iii)] Carbamic acid esters of aliphatic glycol ethers are made by causing an aliphatic glycol ether, of the formula R 1 -OROH in which R stands for an aliphatic residue, e.g. |-CH 2 -CH 2 - | and R 1 stands for alkyl, to react with urea with elimination of ammonia. The reaction is carried out at an elevated temperature and may be carried out at diminished or raised pressure depending on the boiling point of the glycol ether used. In the examples (1) urea and 1-oxy-2-ethoxyethane are heated together ; (2) urea and 1-oxy-3-ethoxy-n-butane are heated together at normal pressure and at a raised pressure.
