Abstract
653,218. Electric motors. FLORY, H. E. Nov. 18, 1948, No. 30032. [Class 35] The two stator coils of an electric motor having an unwound iron rotor 10 are fed alternately through the rotor spindle 9 by alternate contact with strips 12, 13 by a cranked portion 11 of the spindle, the speed being varied by displacing the contact strips away from the spindle so as to vary their time of contact with the spindle. The stator coils are wound together at 4 on a gapped annular core 5. The coils are connected to terminals 6, 7 carrying the spring contacts 12, 13 whilst the spindle is fed with current by a brush 14. The speed control lever 16 has arms 17, 18 which engage the spring contacts so as to bend them away from the spindle.
