[Class 131] A dry shaver comprises a first cutting combination having a stationary cutting plate and a cutting member driven by a rotary shaft, a second cutting combination having a stationary cutting plate and a co-operating cutting member, readily detachable connecting means, in axial alignment with the rotary shaft, being provided to drive the second cutting member. As shown the second cutting plate 9 covers the first cutting plate 1 and is a friction fit on the protective rim 6 of the first cutting combination the slotted cutting plate 1 being secured to the motor casing 7 by the threaded lower part 8 of the rim 6. The second cutting member 11 is received in a slot in the spindle 12 which passes through an aperture in the central depression 3 of the cutting plate 1 to engage studs 14, on the shaft 5, which also drive the first cutting member 4. The shaft is moved downwards against the action of the spring 15 when the second cutting combination is fitted so that the cutting member 4 is separated from the cutting blade 1 and friction is reduced. The second cutting member may be driven from the first cutting member and further modifications are described in which the second cutting plate projects in the axial direction of the shaft beyond, and is small in diameter in comparison with the first cutting plate, so that both cutting plates may be used simultaneously. In a further modification the second cutting member may be reciprocated.
