Abstract

[Class 99(i)] [Also in Groups I and X] A horizontal elliptical, tubular member 7 of a guard rail is connected to its vertical support 1 by bolting or riveting it to a U-shaped socket 4 which is welded to a flat surface on the support 1. The support may be of square section, and at corners of the rail it may be of triangular or polygonal section. It may be tubular or solid and may have two flat surfaces joined by curved surfaces. A slight clearance 14 is provided between the member 7 and the socket to allow the member to be inclined. The members 7 may be curved inwardly or outwardly in a horizontal plane. Several sockets 4 may be welded to one upright at different levels.
