Abstract

614,655. Tents. DAVIES, I. G. July 16, 1946, No. 21313. [Class 20(i)] A tent having no obstructing internal vertical support has a substantially flat top 10 provided with corner anchorages for suspension from at least three external points, at least one of which is above the level of the tent top, and has one or more sheets 11 depending from the top to enclose the tent. The tent may be suspended by ropes 15, 16 from two points such as the branches of a tree &c., and the third suspension point may be provided by a pole 18 secured by a guy rope 19, preferably incorporating a spring 19<1> to provide resilient suspension. A frame element is provided within the tent top at the side facing the pole, and the suspension ropes pass through holes in this element and converge to a ring which is slipped over the top of the pole and rests on a cross pin 20. A similar frame element may be used at the opposite side if the ropes 15, 16 do not diverge sufficiently. Ventilation holes in the top of the sides may be covered by a flap 8. The pole 18 may be in sections. In another form, the tent top is triangular and the pole 18 is in a corner, and in this arrangement the frame element 21 may be dispensed with if the ropes 15, 16 diverge sufficiently. The tent top may be of any elongated rectilinear shape, and also circular. The Provisional Specification mentions a light hoop to keep the circular shape.
