Abstract
650,717. Sifting-apparatus. RUSSELL, V. W. May 13, 1947, Nos. 12893 and 18476. Addition to 591,297. [Class 117] A coal-sifting apparatus comprises a series of slats, rods or bars 4 arranged in spaced-apart parallel relationship with their upper edges located in a common horizontal plane or in a downwardly inclined plane and being immovable relatively to supporting legs 1, an upwardly and outwardly-extending guide plate 9 fitted at one or both sides of the apparatus parallel with the bars 4 and an inclined tray or plate 8 for guiding sifted dust and small pieces of coal passing between the bars to an accessible position. Each plate 9 may be fitted at each end of its lower edge with'a pivot pin 11 adapted to engage within a U-shaped bearing bracket 10. Alternatively each plate 9 may be bent back upon itself along its lower edge to form a tubular part for receiving therethrough a pivot pin or bolt which is journalled at its ends in a part of the framework of the apparatus.
