[Class 117] A domestic cinder sifter comprises an upper rectangular container 1 having a sieve bottom 5 and a removable lid 3, and supported by an ashreceiving lower rectangular container 2 mounted on rockers 10, extending the width of the vase. The'sieve bottom may comprise parallel rods or wires mounted in end-blocks 51 or a wire mesh. Flanges 6 on the lower edges 7 of the upper container 1 engage the walls 8 of the lower container 2. In another form the upper container is hinged to the lower and provided with a spring-retaining clip. Two sides of the lower container are inclined outwards to receive the rockers, the ash being caught in a sliding drawer.
