Abstract
650,476. Making footwear. KEFERSTEIN, C. G. Feb. 28, 1948, No. 6322. Convention date, Nov. 13, 1945. [Class 17(ii)] An insole 1 has integral with or attached near its heel end an extension 4, Fig. 1, of less width, and which is shaped so as to form at least the lower portion of an inside back strap. Where, as in Fig. 11, the extension 4 is attached to the insole the abutting faces may be skived as shown and cemented or stitched together. The extension 4 is secured between opposite sides of counter linings 6, (not shown), Fig. 7, the tabs 3 turned inside these linings and the marginal out-turned edges of upper and insole secured together, a last 9 inserted', outer sole 14 attached and the shoe finished. An outside back strap 11 may be provided, if desired. In a further modified form of insole, Fig. 12, the extension 4 is attached near its root to the rear end of the insole. The. outer sole employed 14 may have a rear tab extension 35, Fig. 14, which is secured to the out-turned margin of upper 8 by a seam 36, Fig. 16, and then turned over to conceal the seam 36 and for attachment of the sole 14 to the upper.
