Abstract

583,237. Boots and shoes. FREER, H. A. May 18, 1944, No. 9612. [Class 17 (ii)] The forepart of a shoe is of welted construction and the arch or waist and heel seat portions are of other conventional lasted construction or constructions, e.g., both may .be of Littleway stapled or McKay lasted constructions or either of these constructions may be employed in the arch or waist, and the heel seat may have a heel seat lasted construction. The welt may be single or double, the latter form being employed in the modification shown in Figs. 2, 3, wherein a thin welt strip 14, which may match or contrast with the upper material 8, and a thicker welt strip 15 are secured to the upper and lip 3 of an insole 1 by stitching 16. The strip 15 is trimmed close to the stitching 16 and the thin welt 14 is cemented on to the exposed edge of the inseam 17. A wedge or other type of heel may be incorporated in the shoe. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 26,047/13 and 311,973, [both in Class 17 (ii)], and U.S.A. Specification 1,905,205.
