731,828. Boots &c. BALLY'S SHOE FACTORIES (NORWICH), Ltd. May 4; 1953 [June 19, 1952], No. 15436/52. Class 17 (2). A forepart strainer 2 for use in place of a normal insole comprises any material or combination of materials so that the toe part 3 is hard and capable of taking any form of grindery while the joint portion 4 is flexible and capable of taking a fine raised seam. The strainer is sewn to the feather edges 5, 6 of the upper over the area A B C D by a raised seam and a last is inserted having thereon a separate seat piece 9 which overlaps the strainer but is not attached thereto during construction. The lasting of the toe and heel parts and the completion of the shoe is then effected in any usual way.
