649,968. Stuffing-box packing. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR. June 17,1948, No. 16329. Convention date, July 2, 1947. [Class 122(v)] A U-shaped sleeve packing element 2, for relatively rotating parts, adapted to withstand different pressures on opposite sides, mounted in a stuffing-box 3, 4 with one leg of the sleeve fixed and the other leg capable of limited axial and lateral movement is so arranged that the higher of the two pressures acts on the outside of the U-section. The sleeve 2 is shown in the unloaded and loaded condition on the left- and righthand sides respectively in Fig. 2.
