Abstract
649,848. Lens mounts. KODAK, Ltd. July 21, 1948, No. 19578. Convention date, Aug. 28, 1947. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (i)] In a focusing lens mount of the type comprising several lens cells of which the front one is movable axially by turning a focusing member, the latter comprises a hollow annular cap, which is supported by the movable cell and is connected therewith for focusing by means of a clamping member carried by the movable cell and means are provided for drawing the cap and the clamping member into tight frictional engagement with a flange formed on said cell between the clamping member and the cap. As shown, the mount comprises a housing 11 to which is fixed a cell 15 carrying lenses 12, 13 and in which is threaded a cell 17 carrying a lens 14. Cell 17 supports at 26 a hollow annular cap 20, the outer part 21 of which is provided with a focusing scale cooperating with a fixed index mark on the housing 11. In contact with an internal flange 25 of the cap 20 is a flange 27 on the cell and between this flange and a shoulder 29 on the cell, a clamping member 30 is mounted. When it is desired to use the mount, the lenses are focused on an object at a known distance by moving cell 17. When cell 17 has taken up its correct position, a screw 31 on the cap 30 is screwed into a hole in the member 30 so that the flange 25 on the cap and the member 30 are drawn into tight frictional engagement with the flange 27 so that cap 20, cell 17 and clamping member 30 rotate and move axially as a unit. The clamping member 30 is in the form of a horseshoe-shaped plate and has enlarged shoulders at its extremities for engagement with a projection 35 from the housing 11 to limit the rotational movement of the cell 17.
