Abstract
579,198. Optical-projection apparatus. ELLIOTT, G. E. C., and ALLTOOLS, Ltd. Dec. 9, 1943, No. 20630. [Class 97 (i)]. [Also in Group XIX] An apparatus primarily intended for measuring lengths, angles or arcs by forming an image of the length &c. on a calibrated screen may also be used for marking out by projecting an image of the scale and/or other markings on to the work, which may be sensitised. The apparatus comprises an objective 6 having limited depth of focus, a calibrated image screen (not shown) mounted in the aperture 12 so as to be capable of lateral or rotary movement for zeroising, and a viewing microscope 27 mounted for vertical and horizontal adjustment. For projecting, the microscope 27 is replaced by a source of light and an image of the calibrated screen or of a scale drawing of a portion of the work is projected on to the work. The distance between the calibrated screen and lens 6 is fixed so that the magnification of the scale is constant, focusing being effected by moving the apparatus bodily along rails 15. The focusing mount 7 may be used to alter the magnification for use with differently calibrated scales. Specification 560,719 is referred to.
